Increased momentum for the 2022 Presidential Race, as women politicians in Kenya, take sides
A Jubilee Nominated Senator has openly pronounced her undying support for Deputy President William Ruto, and his political ambitions to occupy State House in 2022.
Senator Millicent Omanga, known as Mama Miradi, said she was in full support of the Tangatanga team and would not look back in fulfilling the ambitions of the political team.
“Hapa ni hustlers nation, na sisi tunasema punguza mzigo! (This area of Kamukunji, and other sub-counties in Nairobi are part of the hustler nation, and support the Punguza Mzigo initiative,” said Ms. Omanga.
Ms. Omanga together with Inua Mama Kenya women group members donated one million shillings to the women of Eastleigh. She promised to empower even other women across the 17 sub-counties in Nairobi County.
“I have not been allocated resources in parliament but have managed to support fellow women to give money towards the empowerment of women in Nairobi,” said Ms Omanga, who in her speech seemed to openly challenge the leadership style of Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris.
Other women leaders present at the Desa grounds in Kamukunji were Kandara MP Alice Wahome, Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa, Naivasha MP Jane Kihara, Nyandarua Women Representative Faith Gitau, Kirinyaga Women Representative Wangui Ngirici, Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika and female MCAs from different parts of the country among others.
Inua Mama has held similar meetings to empower women and the youth in Garissa, Meru, Laikipia, Tana River, Kirinyaga and Nyeri Counties.
The group is seen to be in support of the leadership of the Deputy President and constantly urges President Uhuru Kenyatta to keep his promise of a 10-year presidential term for DP Ruto in 2022.
