Stage set as Aisha hits out at the police and county women representative
Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa hit at Kilifi Women Representative Gertrude Mbeyu, and roped in the police in Kilifi saying they were cowards.
The vocal MP said she would not let the matter of arresting women arbitrary rest.
It was reported that the arrested were Ms. Aisha supporters who happened to attend a meeting of Embrace Kenya, an opposing faction of Inua Mama Kenya that the Malindi MP is a member.
Ms. Aisha called for the immediate release of the arrested and said she would quickly travel to Kilifi and personally attend to the matter.
“What are you embracing if you are arresting women who are harmless? Watch your ground Mbeyu. You are so unpopular Mbeyu in Kilifi County! To the police, if you want to play politics, we can play, be ready.”
“As a woman leader, I will not allow a woman in Kilifi County to be arrested because of politics. I have spoken to the county commissioner and called for the release of those women. Why beat up women? If you are embracing peace, why arrest harmless women who say they support Aisha?” she asked.
She did not stop there.
“I curse the action of the Embrace team and Gertrude Mbeyu and urge the women in the meeting to walk out in protest. I want to tell them; I will come to Kilifi tomorrow. I will come. Let Mbeyu know that I am in Nairobi, but very present in Kilifi. Kilifi should not be made a joke because we know our political direction as the people of Kilifi,” said Ms. Aisha who was speaking in Kamukunji, Nairobi County during a meeting for Inua Mama Kenya.
“Embrace is embarrassing us. Shame on you Gertrude Mbeyu and Your Team! You are using the police. Let the police stay off politics and do their work,” she said.
Ms. Aisha is a staunch supporter of the Deputy President William Ruto and retaliated that the real Tangatanga team was bringing development in the interior parts of Kenya, and causing positive change in the lives of people.
