Women from the Coast are loud, have a way with words and wit that is unmatched when they stand before a crowd and hold a microphone – these are some of the similarities Likoni MP Mishi Mboko and Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa share.
Interestingly, Mishi has replaced Aisha as a member of the powerful Parliamentary Service Commission following a rebellion of the latter to her political party – ODM – that could not be tolerated anymore.
The removal and replacement of Aisha were one of the resolutions reached during a NASA Parliamentary Group Meeting.
She will loose four security officers assigned to guard her home and office, a government vehicle and Sh700,000 in income and allowances.
Aisha has been accused of openly supporting Deputy President William Ruto and in turn, rebelling against her party leader Raila Odinga, attracting the wrath from her party and thus the demotion from the commission.
She has accompanied the DP in meetings and has been a faithful member of the Inua Mama, Jenga Taifa Group of women leaders that supports the DP through empowerment projects targeting women, youth, and the disabled.
