Governor Anne Waiguru
Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru

Despite her falls, set up by others, or her own mistakes, we all love and hate her in equal measure and miss her. Only Anne Waiguru could play solitaire quite calmly as a serious case was going on against her. Even when her boat is rocked, within and without, she still puts on her lipstick, wears her heels, and represents the women folk with grace.

The sudden disappearance of the Kirinyaga Governor from the public limelight has left Kenyans wondering about her next move on the chessboard of Kenya politics. A queen is a powerful piece on the board, and though it lurks at the corner, it makes a huge difference when moved.

Yes, we saw her during the launch of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) signature drive at the KICC. She was also present during the Bomas of Kenya BBI meeting. However, she (strategically) takes a back seat in this BBI train. She is almost unheard.

Claps can be heard from her supporters since Waiguru is no longer fought at the county level. She has now concentrated on empowering the widows through a powerful eggs/poultry project among other initiatives.

She, Waiguru, is not a woman to be ignored nor discarded. She showed the world her abilities when she was Cabinet Secretary Devolution. Is the National Youth Service (NYS) still empowering thousands of youth? Are the Huduma centres service delivery points in Kenya? Well, she did her part, despite all the odds.

In short, we cannot deny the existence of this strong woman and look forward to following her next moves.
