NAIROBI – While Kenyans have been treated to trending news about Senator Karen Nyamu from her relationships and other drama, the legislature is climbing the ladder of high importance at the Senate.

Senator Nyamu is among the seven senators who have been approved to change their Senate committees in Kenya, according to the House order paper for Wednesday, February 15, 2023.

Senator Nyamu will now serve on the powerful Senate Committee for Justice, Legal Affairs, and Human Rights, replacing Senator Samson Kiprotich.

In return, Senator Nyamu has given way to Senator Gloria Orwoba in the Standing Committee on Labour and Social Welfare, where Sen. Nyamu was serving.

This comes a day after the two Senators, Nyamu and Orwoba, were trending across the country for two different reasons that happened in the Senate House.

Sen. Nyamu was kicked out of the legislative house because she was wearing a black sleeveless top, which was described as indecent by Senate Speaker Amason Kingi.

Senator Gloria Orwoba

Sen. Orwoba was also kicked out after she came to the house in a red-staining trouser outfit as an advocacy move for monthly periods and sanitary towels for girls and women.

Speaker Kingi asked Sen. Orwoba to leave the chambers and go change into another outfit without the red stain.

It was not clear whether the red stain was her period or some red colour or paint.

Another leader who was trending on the same day, Valentine’s Day, was Bomet County MP Linet Toto, who became engaged and Kenyans got to know about it.

MP Toto’s story of rising from the slums of Bomet County, defeating powerful leaders in the race for woman representative, and becoming woman representative has captivated Kenyans, who closely follow her every move.

Senators Nyamu and Orwoba, as well as MP Toto, are all young Kenyan leaders who are making strategic moves in the country’s leadership.

The new crop of leaders is slowly ousting the older ones from the limelight, albeit slowly.
