Jean Njeri Kamau’s career is a testament to her exceptional leadership and dedication. With over 20 years of experience spanning human rights, development, political governance, and institutional development, Kamau brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of impactful service. Her recent role as Kenya’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union highlights her formidable diplomatic prowess and commitment to advancing international cooperation.

Kamau’s journey is marked by groundbreaking achievements. As the first Executive Director of the Federation of Women Lawyers in Kenya, she set a precedent for women’s rights and legal reform. Her tenure as Country Director for Action Aid International in Kenya and Lesotho further exemplifies her leadership in championing social justice and development.

Her diplomatic career spans significant postings, including in South Africa, Eswatini, Lesotho, and Washington DC, showcasing her ability to navigate and influence diverse political landscapes.

Educated at the University of Nairobi and the University of Leeds, Kamau holds a bachelor’s degree in Law and a master’s degree in Democratic Studies. Her academic background complements her extensive experience, reinforcing her role as a trailblazer in international diplomacy and development.
