Former Laikipia Woman Representative Cate Waruguru has asked critical questions around the suggested impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking in Lamu County, during the burial of Deputy Governor Raphael Ndung’u, Ws Waruguru asked where were those leaders seeking the DP’s impeachment when they were deep in the campaign trail seeking votes from Kenyans.
Ms Waruguru described those seeking for the DP’s impeachment as leaders with ‘just long mouths’ speaking in public but their attempts would bear no fruits.
She also urged Kenyans to embrace the truth in their lives, including the Truthful Man, DP Rigathi, who does not shy away from speaking the truth in black and white.
She also criticised the conduct of Lamu Woman Representative Muthoni Marubu alleging that she was used in collecting signatures to play dirty in the house of representatives in the past.
Earlier in her speech, Ms Marubu had said that if they did not want ‘the mountain touched, the coast should also not be touched’ (tusiguze mlima, msiguze bahari).
Ms Marubu added that Kikuyus were living in different parts of the country, including Tana, Garissa and Mpeketoni, and assuming that their rights should only be protected in the mountain was a grave mistake.
The debate on the impeachment of DP Rigathi continues in Kenya, with leaders taking different positions depending on their stand.
It remains to be seen if the impeachment motion will be tabled in Parliament, and whether President William Ruto will support the politically charged motion.
