In an interview on YouTube, the young wife said a child had returned home and wanted some things from her, which prompted the woman to call Thuo, but he did not pick up the phone. Later, a woman called through his phone and told us he was dead. He was a fundi, and before he got that gig in Kahawa, he had been staying for about a week without a job. We had two kids, and he was a breadwinner “Your husband was getting into a Supermetro at Kahawa Wendani and he was pushed: his head and back were hurt. We called an ambulance and it refused to come; we couldn’t help him so he died. When you come ask me for his phone,” recalled Thuo’s wife.
This was the unfortunate turn of events Yesterday, on a Super Metro Bus with the plate number KDL 125N:
• Tout: “Nimesema gari ni 80/=”
• Gilbert: “Niko tu na 50/=”
• Tout: “Nimesema gari ni 80/=. Tusisumbuane. Mbona uliingia kama huna 80/? Unanibeba ujinga wewe.”
• Gilbert: “Mimi sikusikia…na huwa hata nalipa hivo.”
• Tout: Aggrrrhhh…
The bus was speeding towards Kahawa Wendani when the enraged tout allegedly opened the door and threw Gilbert Thuo Kimani— a middle-aged man from Kandara Sub-county in Murang’a County— out of the moving vehicle. Tragically, the man died on the spot. Postmortem results confirmed that Gilbert succumbed to multiple injuries, including broken ribs, arms, and legs.
We hope justice will be served.
