A married woman named Joy Mutisya and her friend Jane Ndanu were shot and killed in Kanyonyoo, Kitui County. The suspect is a police officer who is now on the run.

Joy, a mother of two, had told her husband she was going to look for work in Kitengela. But instead, she went to Kanyonyoo to meet the police officer, who is believed to have been her boyfriend.

Reports say that the officer found Joy at Jane Ndanu’s house. After a heated argument, he used his AK-47 rifle to shoot and kill both women. Another report says the shooting may have started at a bar earlier that night.

Joy was married to James Mutisya. They had two children, one in Form Three and the other in Grade Six. Her family is heartbroken and is still looking for answers about what happened.

The bodies of Joy and Jane have been taken for autopsy, and both families are preparing for their burial. Police are still searching for the officer involved.
