The Luhya community has been termed as having the numbers to greatly influence national elections in Kenya.

However, the numbers have not counted because of the community’s split alliances born from the many sub-tribes that compromise the bigger block of the Luhya Vote.

Speaking in Elgeyo Marakwet in a meeting hosted by Women Rep Jane Chebaibai, TransNzoia Women Representative Janet Nangabo emphasized the support of Deputy President William Ruto by the women leaders in the region. Also present was Bungoma Women Rep Catherine Wambilianga.

“This time around, if the men have their political network down, we are ready as Luhya women leaders to get to work. And we will walk this political journey, with our neighbour, who has shown an interest in us, and this is none other than William Samoei Ruto,” said MP Nangabo.

MPs Nangabo, Chebaibai, and Wambilianga are members of Inua Mama, Jenga Taifa Group that openly supports a Ruto Presidency in 2022.

“Even Wetangulah and other male leaders are still looking for their political network, but as women, we are clear on the direction to take. We will elect William as the leader, not because of the tribe he comes from but because he is a great leader for the people, the same way we did for President Uhuru Kenyatta,” added MP Nangabo.

Senator Moses Wetangulah has been labeled as a confused leader since the NASA Coalition seems not to be working in unison and he has not audibly declared his political stand to give the Luhya people direction.
