Sadness and grief have engulfed residents of Mwiki after the death of Rachel Wandeto, the young woman who had reportedly tattooed President William Ruto’s image on her chest.

Rachel died while receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital after developing complications during surgery following weeks in critical condition.

Reports indicate that Rachel suffered nearly 70 per cent burns after she was allegedly attacked by unknown men who poured petrol on her and set her ablaze in Mwiki, Nairobi. The shocking incident sparked outrage online and renewed debate over political intolerance and mob violence in Kenya.

According to information shared after the attack, the assault was allegedly linked to the tattoo of President Ruto on her body.

Family members and friends confirmed her death, describing her as a strong young woman who fought for her life until the very end.
