The second female President in Africa
She is the first female president in Namibia and the second female President in Africa

Namibia’s first female president, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, won the elections with 57% of the votes cast. She joins Tanzania’s Samia Suluhu Hassan, who is Africa’s only female President. She grew up in a rural setting, and her early experiences contributed to her commitment to women’s rights and social justice. She attended the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, where she obtained a degree in Education.

Nandi-Ndaitwah has had a long and distinguished political career, primarily as a member of the South West Africa Peoples Organization(SWAPO), the party that played a central role in Namibia’s independence from South Africa in 1990.
