Carl Thomas Dean, Dolly Parton’s beloved husband of nearly 60 years, passed away at 82. Their love story began in 1964 outside a Nashville laundromat and was a true testament to devotion and privacy. Though Carl stayed out of the spotlight, he was always Dolly’s biggest supporter—and even inspired her hit song Jolene

In a statement posted to Dolly’s Instagram, the country singer shared that her husband Carl died on Monday in Nashville, Tennessee.

“Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy,” Dolly shared.

Our hearts go out to Dolly and her family during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Carl. 🕊️
