21-year-old Muthoni Truphena breaks the Guinness World Record after hugging a tree for more than 28 hours.

Climate change threatens our planet, causing extreme weather events, disrupting ecosystems, and threatening food security. These impacts can have a significant toll on our mental and emotional well-being. Studies have linked climate change to increased anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Her goal is to raise awareness about the importance of nature in combating mental health issues, which she describes as a crisis in Kenya.

“Mental health issues are causing distress among young people and the general public. Unfortunately, many do not appreciate Mother Nature’s healing power. If you’re feeling stressed, take a walk in a nearby park, find a tree, or sit under one,”
